Overview
This workshop welcomes all researchers in design and HCI whose work is in any way connected to AI, whether actively engaged in AI-related research or newly exploring this area. Topics may include but not limited to:
💡 Use of AI tools within design and research processes (UX research, UI design, writing, data analysis, ideation, etc.)
💡 Human-AI and Human-Agent Interactions (novel interaction techniques, interface and modality, explorative study on human experience including specific groups, etc.)
💡 Theories and Concepts on AI Design
💡 Critical discussion on AI (social, ethical, cultural)
In this workshop, we will reflect on how design research has been approached designing for/with AI and discuss how researchers can adapt to the rapid advancements in this technology. Specifically, we will focus on the following topics:
☑️ How have the practices, outcomes, and agendas of design research evolved in response to the temporality of AI—where knowledge quickly becomes outdated, new paradigms emerge, and certain principles persist over time?
☑️ How can design research produce outcomes that acknowledge the shifting temporality of AI while ensuring continuity in their relevance and value amidst its rapid advancements?
☑️ How can design researchers navigate the interplay between the transient and enduring aspects of AI advancements, addressing emerging issues while sustaining meaningful contributions over time?
