James Pierce is an Associate Professor and Chair of Interaction Design in the Division of Design at the University of Washington, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Human-Centered Design and Engineering Department. His research focuses on how interfaces mediate human action, perception, and social practices, combining design prototyping, qualitative methods, and critical perspectives to address social issues in computing. He explores digital privacy, sustainability, and hyperconnectivity, with a particular focus on emerging IoT and AI technologies.
